Pupils from Oban High, Hermitage Academy and Dunoon Grammar are taking part in the award-winning MCR Pathways Programme and we’re looking for people to sign up to become mentors.
MCR Pathways aims to help young people unlock their potential, no matter their circumstances. Working together with inspiring community mentors, the programme helps young people to realise their skills and progress onto a positive destination.
Pupils in participating schools will have weekly one-hour meetings with their mentor, and the relationship that develops between them has been shown repeatedly across the country to develop the young person’s confidence, self-belief, and resilience. As a result, young people engaging with a mentor have a better understanding of their own potential, attain and achieve more highly, and are more likely to move into positive destinations after leaving school. Mentors also speak of the positive impact of being a mentor on their own lives.
We still need more volunteers in the Dunoon area. If you’re interested, we’re hosting an online information session for council staff on 12 December at 3pm week via Teams. To register your interest visit: MCR Pathways- Dunoon Information Session 12/11/23 @3pm
