Why use it

Using the method can highlight where gaps in knowledge exist and can be used to identify areas which require further research.

When to use it

How to use it

The facilitator shares the topic or brief to be considered, inviting participants to silently and individually record their thoughts. Because participants are not prompted, the information they provide should not be influenced in anyway.

Unlike brainstorming, brainwriting is not a group activity, and participants will not feed off each other to generate new ideas.
