Looking for a family day out in June? Helensburgh lifeboat station is celebrating its 60th anniversary on 21 June with an Open Day.
The lifeboat station was founded in June 1965 at Rhu marina.
Howard Morrison Lifeboat Operations Manager and Chair of the Management team said, “ We are celebrating 60 years of the Helensburgh lifeboat station and would like to hear from anyone who has been involved in someway with the lifeboat station since it was opened, whether a past member of the crew or their family, part of the management team ora fundraiser. If you were a volunteer at any time over the past 60 years then we would like to hear your story and invite you to join in our celebrations.”
Come along to the Open Day which starts at 11.00 am and ends at 2.00 pm on Saturday 21 June. All welcome. There will be plenty to see with an opportunity to tour the station, meet the crew, a sea safety demonstration at 1.00 pm, time to explore the history of the station and learn about the role of the crew and the lifeboat in saving lives at sea. Fun for all the family, refreshments and RNLI stalls.
