Happy New Year! Have you made any new year’s resolutions?
I gave up making resolutions a long time ago, I always seemed to break them within a few weeks. I am going to try and adopt some better habits though; exercise a bit more, drink less and spend more time visiting friends and family.
I’m lucky enough to have had two weeks leave and it’s a great reminder of the importance of taking a bit of time off. It can allow us to bring some fresh energy and perspective, when we come back to work. Now I’m back I’m really excited for 2025 – there is so much great work happening in the Council.
We’ll be signing our £50 million Rural Growth Deal, identifying projects with the UK Government for our £20 million Community Regeneration Partnership Fund and starting the final stage of the Rothesay Pavilion refurbishment; to name just a few.
And it’s not just what we can achieve; I’ve already met with partner organisations from the private and public sector who contribute to making Argyll and Bute a thriving place to live.
Christmas is also a time when we see the very visible contribution that local community groups make. If you’ve enjoyed the Christmas lights in your area or a local firework display then there is a committed group of local volunteers making that happen.
Just think of what else we can achieve in 2025 by working together.
As we start the new year I’d also like to welcome Stephen Hall to the Roads and Infrastructure Service. Stephen has taken on the role of interim Head of Service.
Have a lovely weekend
