This week I spent time with our Chief Officers Group (COG), which brings together our Directors and Heads of Service. Our discussions were based on our Connect for Success Principles, which guide the way we work.
We know how busy everyone is, so we focussed on the things that matter most – reviewing our priorities, looking at how we balance next year’s budget, and making sure we stay focussed on our vision and mission.
A big part of our conversation was about empowering staff across the council to deliver on that vision. We also discussed what it means to work together as One Council – making sure people have the freedom to act, but also that we have the right level of assurance and reporting so we know if we’re making a difference. This helps us learn, adapt, and improve as we go.
There’s more work to do, and you’ll start to see more information being shared on these topics over the coming months.
The first update will be in the next Cascade, where we’ll share the actions we’re taking in response to the staff survey.
