The sun is shining, the forecast looks great – all’s right with the world! (a little steal from the Robert Browning poem, Pippa’s Song). It just makes everything feel more optimistic, doesn’t it?
I’m sure the senior leaders of the Council who are coming together today would rather be out in the sunshine but I hope nevertheless that it will be an energetic and optimistic day.
We are going to be talking about Enabling Our Council to Thrive in the Future. Sometimes with all the challenges thrown at us it can feel like we’re just coping. What we’ll be talking about today is how we start to plan longer term to create the conditions in which we can thrive, as individuals, as an organisation, and as an area.
The four key themes we’ll explore are each going to be led by one of our heads of service:
- Empowering Communities (Fergus Murray)
- Increasing Income (David Logan)
- Right Sizing Council Asset Base (Ross McLaughlin)
- Delivering Services Differently (Jane Fowler)
You’ll hear more about this in the coming weeks and months and I look forward to your input and ideas.
