CEX update – recognising your hard work

AB Recognition logo

The last full Council meeting took place yesterday before the summer recess.

Among the key decisions made, Councillor Ross Moreland will take on the role of Depute Leader of the Council, along with Councillor Audrey Forrest, following the sad passing of Councillor Robin Currie. Paying tribute to Robin’s work for Argyll and Bute, Councillor Moreland said, ‘I can’t fill his shoes but I can follow in his footsteps’.

Setting the council’s budget for next year was also on the agenda. Councillors agreed to set up a Budget Working Group again, bringing together Administration and Opposition councillors, to consider options for bridging next year’s estimated £8 million budget gap.

Generating income, spend-to-save projects, and reviewing earmarked reserves (budget set aside for specific projects) will all be priorities, and any options for service reductions or changes to how services are delivered.

You can read more in the ‘Budget Approach’ report, at item 8, on the website, and I will update you again as we make progress. Any questions or suggestions as always welcome to workingtogether@argyll-bute.gov.uk

AB Recognition

Thank you to everyone who has nominated a colleague for the efforts they are going to and the difference they are making – and congratulations to everyone who has been nominated!

AB Recognition is all about getting hard working employees of this council the credit you deserve. People are making differences in many different ways. For example, helping customers with additional needs and their families, providing mentoring and support to help colleagues develop their careers, and going above and beyond, every day to support and nurture young people so they can achieve their best.

You can find out more about getting involved in this month’s Cascade. Please do consider taking just a few minutes to recognise a valued colleague. Thanks.

Wishing you all a great weekend,

Pippa
