I spoke last week about the positive difference the council makes for local people and the responses to our call to support fair funding for services continues to reflect this.

The budget setting process isn’t just difficult for the council. I also appreciate how difficult this is for many of you. We are all looking at difficult choices just now. There is much uncertainty until we know the funding settlement from the Scottish Government in January. As we try to balance the budget and address the funding gap, we need to look at all options.
Full council will meet next Wednesday to look at initial proposed savings for consideration in February when we set the budget.
I want to reassure you that the Leader and I are doing everything we can to stand up for Argyll and Bute nationally. A key focus is on negotiations with the Scottish Government about council funding. Although we don’t know what that funding looks like just now, it’s important to stress that whatever decisions are made next year, we will carry on delivering a huge number of services to communities across Argyll and Bute.
