This week has been unusual in that all my meetings have been with real people, face to face. It’s been great to make real connections and get the benefits of the free flowing discussions that come from being with people in the flesh.
Don’t get me wrong, virtual meetings are great. I can get more done and I have to travel away from home less, meaning more quality time with my husband and dogs.
It just goes to show how important it is to get a balance of both and to schedule some face to face time in when the situation calls for it. My week was a mix of meetings with other organisations that we need to build trusting relationships with, development days, planning sessions, an interview and a retirement celebration for a valued colleague.
The times when it’s important to be in a room together will vary for all of us but in these times of hybrid and flexible working it’s vital to be intentional about when to get together because it doesn’t happen by chance. And sometimes it’s important for us just to get our teams together to reconnect.
So after all that connecting I’m looking forward to the long weekend. The sun is shining so I think my garden may get a little TLC.
Have a lovely weekend.
