Challenge Climate Change Event

We are delighted to invite you to Argyll and Bute’s climate change challenge event on Saturday 6th November from 12-4pm in the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre.

Each of us can do something to support and maintain the natural resources we all need to live our lives.

This event will showcase the work the council is doing to develop climate-friendly ways of working, and invites the local community to come along, enjoy family-friendly activities and find out more about how they can live and work climate-friendly.

The event supports and coincides with the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow. The challenge it sets overall is to help Argyll and Bute become the first Net Zero region in the UK.

What’s on offer?

The free-to-attend event will be family friendly, involving children’s activities, food/drinks and market stalls supporting sustainable suppliers. We will be showcasing some of our electric / hybrid vehicle fleet, displaying climate-focused posters drawn by local schools, promoting de-carbonisation projects taking place in our region, having a ‘waste workshop’, highlighting our region’s carbon footprint and facilitating speakers on a range of energy transition and climate change topics.

How council services and others can get involved

Our aim is to engage different council departments, local businesses / organisations and external suppliers, in sharing their climate-friendly journey, knowledge and projects.

Local people are invited to come along and find out more about progress being made, and how they can support the objective.

Please feel free to pass this invite onto your constituents, colleagues, friends and family as it is a drop in event and all are welcome.

Further promotion of the event, programme and more details will be available on the events page and social media in coming weeks.
