CEX update – explore Argyll and Bute

travel app on phone screen

As you may know, a special meeting of Argyll and Bute Council was held yesterday. As a result, Councillor Douglas Philand replaces Councillor Maurice Corry as Provost and Councillor Jim Lynch replaces Councillor Robin Currie as Leader of Argyll and Bute Council. You can read our statement on the council website.

Full council will meet on 25th April to agree the ruling Administration and related councillor roles on committees of the council and external organisations. I will update you on the outcome following this meeting.

Out and about

With the lighter days, it’s a great excuse to spend more time outdoors. With our Better Journeys campaign, we’re trying to encourage more people to leave the car at home, where possible and here in Argyll and Bute, we’re spoilt for choice with walking and cycling routes.

Did you know that we have handy, pocket-sized walking and cycling maps? They include walking times to key destinations, details of longer routes and links to access the wider transport network. You can download them from the website.

We also have a series of fun interactive travel apps to download for Campbeltown, Dunoon, Helensburgh, Mid Argyll, Oban and Rothesay.  They provide self-guided trails to help you explore each town and discover some of the history there.

If you’re out and about this weekend in Argyll and Bute, we would love to see your photos. Please feel free to share them by emailing workingtogether@argyll-bute.gov.uk

Enjoy your weekend.

Pippa
