Phased Return to Work and Other Reasonable Adjustments: Managers Guide

When an employee is absent on sick leave, certain adjustments may be put in place to allow them either to continue in work, make an early return to work, or ease back into work following illness. The Equalities Act 2010 places a duty on employers to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to any provision, criterion or practice that they apply and to physical features of their premises to accommodate the needs of employees with disabilities.
