What is Teams?
Teams is an app within the Microsoft 365 suite of products. It enables you to work closer and smarter with colleagues together in a single shared workspace.
Think of Teams as a place to hang out with your team and colleagues to work together on projects and share ideas or workloads.
How does it make my life easier?
Within one window, you can use a variety of tools to help you work more effectively. Rather than searching for old emails and files, Teams gives you handy access to all your files and conversations, all in the one place.
In Teams you can:
- Create, share, edit and work together on documents at the same time as your colleagues
- Create your own Teams and theme-based work areas called Channels to help organise and keep your team tasks, activities and files in one place
- Draw, sketch and write together using interactive whiteboards
- Take quick polls using the chat function
What’s the difference between Skype and Teams?
Skype remains our main telephony system and you should continue to use this to make calls.
There are more functions in Teams that enable collaborative working across the Council and with external organisations. Real time document sharing and editing will reduce time with all information stored in the one place.
Let’s get started
