It is important that employees know what is expected of them at work and the standards to be observed, in order that they can meet the Council’s expectations of them as an individual, and contribute to their team and the wider Council objectives. It is also important that employees know the consequences if they fail to meet these expectations and standards. Where an employee’s conduct is alleged to have fallen short of this it may be a potential disciplinary matter and result in informal or formal action being taken with a view to bringing about an improvement in conduct.
Many disciplinary issues can be resolved informally. However, where it cannot be resolved informally the Disciplinary Procedures and Code of Practice set out the procedures that will be followed.
