This process applies to patterns of sickness absence that meet one or more absence trigger, may or may not be connected and last less than 28 days.
Frequent short term absences may indicate other circumstances that may need to be explored and resolved or an underlying medical condition. For the purposes of the supporting attendance at work procedure, the types of short term absence are managed differently depending on whether they are as a result of an underlying health condition.
