We asked for feedback from managers who had recently recruited in a survey and in focus groups to help us improve the induction process for new starts. Thanks to that feedback, I’m excited that we are now launching our new Employee Onboarding Programme. With new features, it’s designed to make your life easier, save time and help all new starts feel welcomed, informed and part of the council from the get go.
We have listened to feedback and incorporated them into the new programme. We’ve moved the process online, everything is now in one handy place with more detailed information so both you and your new starts know exactly what to do and where to find it.
What’s new?
- Comprehensive welcome: A detailed introduction to the council, our culture, mission, and values. This will help new starts understand how we work together across services and teams.
- Mentoring support: All new starts will pair with a mentor. Their role will be to guide them through their onboarding journey, answer questions and help support them to integrate seamlessly into their new role and the council. Line managers will identify mentors.
- Interactive learning: A mix of one-to-one information, eLearning content, and videos will provide all the learning new starts require including information about the tools, systems, and best practices we use as an organisation.
- Meet the Leadership team: Interactive content allows new starts to meet the leadership team and learn more about the services we provide across the council.
- Continuous feedback: We are committed to continuously improving our onboarding experience. Through this new process managers and new starts will be able to provide feedback to help us refine the process and ensure that it meets everyone’s needs.
What do I need to do?
- For Managers and Team Leaders: We have developed a checklist to help guide you through everything you need to know as part of the onboarding process. You can access this on LEON. When new starts enrol on the programme, you’ll receive an email inviting you to access the checklist that will walk you through the stages of the new process. To give you time to look over the check list the onboarding programme for new starts will go live on the 7th May and will be available to any new starts who began their employment with us from the 1st May.
- If you have an employee who started prior to the new onboarding programme launching, please continue with their existing induction.
- Please make sure all recruitment paperwork is submitted on time in line with payroll deadlines as this will ensure your new starts can access LEON from day one of their employment
- For New Employees: After adding new starts to HROnline, LEON will automatically enrol them on the onboarding programme. New starts will then receive an email from LEON to access to the programme.
