Learning, growing, passing exams… not just for our pupils…
Part of what makes Argyll and Bute a wonderful place to live and work is its diverse landscape. Winding coastal paths, remote islands, rural communities and miles of hills and forests. But that same diverse landscape, and sheer size of our area, can also make it difficult to recruit people to work in our schools and, in the past, access training to develop areas of interest and expertise.
To tackle this the Education team took a bold approach when it came to creating opportunity to develop our leaders in education – they developed a Leadership Pathway to help our teachers become the leaders of tomorrow. Having launched 2 years ago, it’s unlike any other offering in Scotland and has seen many teachers embark on a period of learning and growth, supported every step of the way. The benefits are felt across all of our communities.
Part of Connect for Success is maximising useful technology to help us deliver what’s needed, and to enable the success of the Leadership Pathway it is accessible online – bringing people together through Teams to ensure equality of access across Argyll and Bute.
An essential part of the council’s commitment to empower employees and work together to deliver what’s needed, education professionals across primary, secondary, early years and ASN can avail of this.
Since the Leadership Pathway was launched:
- 13 Teachers completed Aspiring to Headship (A&B leadership programme)
- 8 Teachers completed Into Headship (programme through Education Scotland)
- 1 Head Teacher completed In Headship (programme through Education Scotland)
- 20 Teachers completed the Middle Leaders Leading Change (programme through Education Scotland)
- 25 Teachers completed Aspiring Middle Leaders (programme through Education Scotland)
- 16 Teachers completed the Educator Leadership Programme (programme through Education Scotland)
