Learning from others and Epilepsy Awareness Month

Aberdeen City Council CEO, Angela Scott with Argyll and Bute CEO, Pippa MilneI think it was Henry Ford who said that anyone who keeps learning, stays young. A useful mantra for us all!

Earlier this week, I visited Aberdeen City Council, with colleagues from the Executive Leadership Team. We were there to learn more about their remarkable and very unique journey to transform how they do business as an organisation.

It was incredibly insightful and I was certainly inspired by their story and motivated to ensure we can benefit from their experience.

As we start to shape the review of our Outcome Improvement Plan that will take place in 2022, I was struck by the profile this document had in Aberdeen.

We also heard about their digital transformation and the work they have done to build organisational capability to respond to change.

In the weeks to come I’ll be reflecting on what we heard and what may allow us to drive improvement in Argyll and Bute. Special thanks to Angela Scott Chief Executive and her team for being so welcoming.

Thanks to everyone for sending in their fantastic images. A reminder that I’m looking for great wintery shots of Argyll and Bute to use for my card this year.

Please email your submission by 12pm on Friday 19 November to leisel.metz@argyll-bute.gov.uk. There’s no need to add a festive message as I’ll do that.

There’s a small prize for the winning entry.

Thanks to everyone who has already carried out housekeeping on your H: drives before we move to OneDrive. You can find more information on MyCouncilWorks about why your drive is moving and where to save documents.

If you want to find out more about epilepsy or if you are recently diagnosed, support is available from Epilepsy Scotland. My podcasts are available on the council website.

Have a lovely weekend.
