Making work easier with the right tools and options

Part of the change programme is about providing the right tools and options to make working life easier. As we continue to adopt hybrid working, the Our Modern Workspace project team has been working hard to refurbish and reconfigure hub buildings. We now have a number of buildings that allow flexible working spaces and more collaborative spaces.

Please continue to work from home if that is working well for you. If you would prefer to come into an office, this is now possible. There are a number of options for you. You can work from your old desk, if available, or book one of our flex desks or meeting rooms.

Hybrid working means thinking differently about how we catch up and collaborate with colleagues. I would encourage teams to think about how you co-ordinate office time to facilitate face-to-face meetings on occasion. It’s lovely to catch up with colleagues in the flesh, but don’t forget there are lots of new ways to collaborate on MS Teams too.  Personally, I love the flexibility we have now to work from home and in the office, while still having access to all the digital tools I need.

You can read the latest Our Modern Workspace update, including available hub buildings and how to book spaces on MyCouncilWorks

As you know, we are looking at ways to improve the way we work more collaboratively across services. At the same time, listening to your feedback, we understand what can get in the way of you doing your job. One of the things that comes up repeatedly is the number of emails we can receive.  If you are sick of having a full inbox and want to focus on priorities, Microsoft 365 can help you. From reducing the need to email, to creating team channels and prioritising tasks, it includes a number of handy tools designed to save you time.

If you are new to MS365, help is available. We have online resources and guides on MyCouncilWorks and new learning modules on LEON. Look out for a range of webinars starting from the 28th February.

We also have our Digital Champions who are volunteers from across different services. They are available to share how MS365 helps them and answer any questions you might have.

I would like to thank all our Digital Champions for volunteering their time and sharing their knowledge to help colleagues adopt new ways of working. Working together and finding the tools we need to get the job done is a significant part of the change programme as we look to find ways of working better together.

Have a lovely weekend.
