Mandatory profile picture requirement for Microsoft Teams

In today’s increasingly digital workplace, having a complete and professional user profile is essential for fostering effective communication and collaboration. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance internal systems and user engagement, it is recommended that all user profiles include a profile picture. This initiative aligns with our commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and a connected work environment.

Why Profile Pictures Matter

  • Improved Recognition: Profile pictures help colleagues quickly identify one another, especially in large or distributed teams.
  • Enhanced Communication: Visual cues foster more personal and engaging interactions, particularly in virtual meetings and collaborative platforms.
  • Professionalism and Accountability: A complete profile reflects a professional standard and encourages accountability in digital spaces.

The inclusion of a profile picture is a small but impactful step toward building a more connected and professional digital workplace. By making this a mandatory requirement, we aim to enhance visibility, foster stronger relationships, and support a culture of openness and collaboration.

How to add a profile picture to Teams

  • Your photograph should be similar to a passport photo
  • It should show a close-up of your full head and shoulders
  • It should only include you, avoid having objects in the background
  • You should be facing forward and looking at the camera and have nothing obscuring your face
  • You can use an editor, such as Paint, to crop and resize an image
  • Go to Teams and click on your status icon on the top right hand side of the screen
  • Click on the avatar icon and upload your photo following the guidance.
