Welcome to the Argyll and Bute Council Microsoft 365 Guide

The Council has migrated employees to the new Microsoft (MS) 365 environment. MS365 provides a new suite of applications designed to help us better collaborate, communicate and administer simple tasks in our day-today work.

You may already have noticed some changes, or be using some of the newer apps, such as Teams.

This guide explains the new software, and includes helpful links to find out more information.

As applications are released, links to training and guidance materials will be made available.  If you plan to use an application for a purpose not covered in the use guidance, this brief Information Governance check  should be completed.

What is included in MS 365?

In addition to familiar apps such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. MS 365 provides a whole new set of tools (apps) including Teams and One Note.

Outlook, Teams and OneNote are available now for you to use.

Look out for more information about these apps coming soon:

  • Planner – create and manage tasks
  • Sway – lighter, easier to use version of PowerPoint
  • One Drive – online file storage tool
  • Stream – a new internal video hub
  • Forms – helps builds data gathering forms and surveys
