A red weather warning is in place for Argyll and Bute tomorrow Friday 24 January. This is the most severe level of weather warning, bringing with it extremely dangerous driving conditions, power cuts and risk of danger to life through flying debris and power cuts. For the wellbeing of staff and residents therefore, here is what it means for council services:
- All council offices, schools and nurseries will be closed to employees and public
- Employees should re-schedule any appointments they have with members of the public tomorrow 24 January
- All employees should work from home; where this is not possible, please speak with your line manager.
- The message to not attend the workplace extends to depot based staff in the Roads and Infrastructure Service. Further instructions on how RIS will deploy to support our communities while keeping our staff safe will be provided by operational managers.

In brief – if your place of work is closed and you can’t work from home then you don’t need to take annual leave. If you are facing childcare difficulties due to closure of schools then you will need to take annual leave.
This Storm Eowyn is forecast to affect areas across Scotland and the council is working with our local and national emergency planning partners in preparation and response to it.
