Some homes and businesses in Scotland use Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) meters to run their heating and hot water. This service will switch off from 30 June and may negatively affect residents and businesses if they have RTS meters. In some cases, the switch-off could mean that heating and hot water supply stops functioning as normal, or energy bills could be stuck at a higher peak-rate.
How you can support residents and businesses
Smart Energy GB is holding a special information and Q&A session that will cover information about the RTS switch-off and how local authority teams can support residents who may be affected. It is open to council colleagues who supports communities and businesses.
- Date and time: 25 February, 2-3pm
- Format: Webinar (MS Teams)
Information for residents and businesses
If you have an RTS meter, your energy supplier will get in touch to arrange an upgrade to a smart meter before the deadline. They must make sure you have a suitable meter installed and that there is no disruption to your service.
Ofgem has details on what you need to do before the switch off on the Ofgem website. You can also watch a short video about the Radio Teleswitch Service switch-off.
