There is no better example of council services coming together to help our communities than the work that has been done over the past few days – with a rare red warning in place, Storm Eowyn was challenging for many of our services and Argyll and Bute residents.
I am incredibly proud of everyone who worked into the night and across the weekend to deliver our initial response.
Addressing damage and responding to the recovery required the efforts of services from across the council. From Roads and Infrastructure, Education, Commercial Services, Customer Support Services, Legal and Regulatory and Economic Development to working with partners in Health and Social Care.
I can’t go into detail here about the huge efforts services have gone to, and the vital progress made, because together council employees have supported our communities in so many different ways, from clearing roads to help energy companies restore power, to getting priority routes re-opened, inspecting schools for safe use, getting information about support and services to people who need it… I could go on.
This really was a huge effort by many people. The work isn’t done yet but I wanted to take this opportunity now to say thank you to everyone involved.
