Tackling issues of poverty and injustice across Argyll and Bute

Jayne JonesAcross Argyll and Bute, we are committed to tackling issues of poverty and injustice and making sure our communities have access to the support and services they need.

We have dedicated employees working across the council helping to address issues including fuel debt and access to food and housing.

I’m delighted to announce that Jayne Jones, our Commercial Manager has been made a Fellow of the Acumen Academy – the world’s school for social change. Jayne is one of only 20 people to have been selected for her work on bridging social divides through school meal provision and the delivery of free period products. Congratulations Jayne and well deserved. Read more about the announcement.

For this week’s podcast, I managed to catch up with Jayne (before the announcement) to chat about the roll out of universal free school meals to all Primary pupils and the future roll out of breakfast and holiday provision. We also cover our commitment to the Soil Association Food for Life Served Here Award and what that means. You’ll find all my podcasts on the website.

We listen to the feedback you give us on training. You told us that you needed to know how to deal with things that affect your working life because of Covid.
