Across Argyll and Bute, we are committed to tackling issues of poverty and injustice and making sure our communities have access to the support and services they need.
We have dedicated employees working across the council helping to address issues including fuel debt and access to food and housing.
I’m delighted to announce that Jayne Jones, our Commercial Manager has been made a Fellow of the Acumen Academy – the world’s school for social change. Jayne is one of only 20 people to have been selected for her work on bridging social divides through school meal provision and the delivery of free period products. Congratulations Jayne and well deserved. Read more about the announcement.
Podcast
For this week’s podcast, I managed to catch up with Jayne (before the announcement) to chat about the roll out of universal free school meals to all Primary pupils and the future roll out of breakfast and holiday provision. We also cover our commitment to the Soil Association Food for Life Served Here Award and what that means. You’ll find all my podcasts on the website.
We still need to remain vigilant with positive cases across Argyll and Bute. Please continue to follow the guidelines – this includes taking regular tests even if you don’t have any symptoms. Read more about how to get tested.
Covid and Flu Vaccinations
NHS Highland has issued guidance to health and social care workers who can now register to book an appointment for their flu and COVID booster vaccine. Guidance can be found on the staff website.
We’re looking for your feedback on the training we offer and any ideas you may have about future training you think you will need, how you would like to access training and what you think about our online learning system LEON.
Your feedback is really important and helps us keep training up to date. It also makes sure we are giving you the training that your need for your own development and to do your job better.
We listen to the feedback you give us on training. You told us that you needed to know how to deal with things that affect your working life because of Covid. So we introduced Resilience training for those of you who are working in a constantly changing environment and ‘Leading Virtual Teams’ training to help managers manage employees who are now working from home. So be sure to tell the team what you would like to see added to our training programme.
