There are 7 key areas, or principles, that we are focused on developing in how we work across the council.

Across services, the principles of Connect for Success underpin our ongoing transformation and support us in delivering what’s needed to make Argyll and Bute the place to be.
From new digital tools to greater flexibility in how we do our jobs, we are becoming future fit. Read more about each principle here and find out what they mean in action by exploring our case studies.
1. One Council One Place
We focus on the best ways to collaborate and partner across teams, services, levels of management and location to provide the highest level of service to our communities. We are driven to achieve our shared purpose – make Argyll and Bute the place to be.
In action this could mean: working in a new way to provide a service to customers that’s easier for us and better for them or using new tools like M365 to help us collaborate day to day.
2. Purpose and Mission Focus
Our unwavering objective is to work together to achieve our priorities for the people of Argyll and Bute. This means being focused on what we’re delivering and how we’re doing it in every job.
In action this could mean: using new tools that could help us do our jobs, celebrating new ideas and individual accomplishments or shining a spotlight the impact we have on the communities we serve.
3. Employee Empowerment
We have the knowledge, skills and experience to deliver what’s needed for our communities. We want to encourage our colleagues to thrive and achieve their goals in a way that’s right for them, in an environment that nurtures excellence.
In action this could mean: creating or taking part in new training opportunities that help with personal development and career goals or looking at new ways to communicate individual achievements.
4. Data and Evidence Driven
We’re making sure that data gathering, insights and analyses support greater decision making at all levels so we can do more of what works for our colleagues and communities.
In action this could mean: greater sharing of information across teams and services to help develop new products or enhance services or learning new skills in interpreting and managing data to grow careers.
5. Learning Council
In everything that we do we look to learn, grow and evolve to improve how we work. We are self-reflective and aim to continually look for ways in which to develop at all levels of the council.
In action this could mean: creating new ways to share skills and knowledge to help teams learn from one another and adapting how we work and changing what we do when we need to.
6. Agile
We understand that we need to be able to make quick decisions and respond to the ever-changing world around us in a way that improves the lives of our colleagues and communities.
In action this could mean: developing new ways of doing things that help us do our jobs, whether it’s managing a team, delivering a project or problem solving to help a customer.
7. Maximise Useful Technology
In all our jobs, we increasingly rely on technology. We are committed to making the most of the right technology, used in the right way, to deliver the best possible service at this time.
In action this could mean: the opportunity to learn how to use new digital tools such as M365, digitising timesheets, using bots or collaborating with your team more easily online.
